Appointment plan

How Amy shapes the appointment.

01

Amy looks at current tone, fading, warmth, and shine before choosing the gloss direction.

02

The formula is selected to support the existing color rather than force a major change.

03

The appointment is a good moment to plan whether the next visit should be gloss, root work, or a bigger color service.

Care note

What keeps the result easier to live with.

Gloss results are easier to stretch when color-safe products, heat protection, and the next refresh window are part of the plan.

Questions

Before booking hair gloss.

What does a hair gloss do?+

A gloss is a tone-and-shine treatment that refreshes existing color without making a major change. It can soften unwanted warmth, add shine, deepen or warm tone slightly, and make color look more finished between bigger appointments. It does not lift the hair lighter or fully cover significant grey on its own, but it is one of the most efficient ways to keep balayage, blonding, brunette color, or full color looking polished. Amy recommends a gloss when the color direction is right but the tone or shine needs a reset.

Is gloss permanent color?+

No. A gloss is usually a softer semi- or demi-permanent tone refresh, not the same as permanent all-over color or lightening. It deposits and balances tone, adds shine, and gradually fades rather than leaving a hard regrowth line. Because it does not lift, a gloss cannot make the hair lighter or fully cover substantial grey by itself. Its temporary nature is useful because it lets Amy adjust tone and polish without locking you into a bigger color change.

Can I book gloss between balayage appointments?+

Yes. A gloss between balayage or blonding appointments is one of the best ways to keep color fresh without re-lightening. It can reduce brassiness, restore shine, and make the result look newly polished for a smaller time commitment than a full color service. Many clients use a gloss roughly halfway between larger appointments, though the exact timing depends on how quickly the tone shifts and how bright the color is. Amy can recommend a maintenance rhythm after seeing how your hair holds tone.
